A Backpack Journalist – 101 CAMP – 5-day – Nashville Film Institute, Nashville, Tennessee
Rotations of writing, song writing, photography and filmmaking begin at 9 am on Monday and continue through until Thursday afternoon. Thursday night and all day Friday, students works toward wrapping up and finale. Closing includes presentation of each student’s work on Friday night to include: Published article and presentation of the written work, Song recorded and or presented live, digital presentations to include portraits and/or digital storytelling that includes some element of film making. During the 5-days two nights are open lab where students can work one on one with teachers/coaches. One night is movie night or some other activity (ie tour of Nashville to include downtown music area)
Goals and Objectives
Objective 1: Youth will learn how to communicate clearly, succinctly, and precisely via written word or images on a topic of interest.
Objective 2: Youth will learn how to gather effective and credible research by observing, listening, interviewing, and using the Internet.
Objective 3: Youth will learn how to express themselves creatively using cutting-edge digital technology.

Cost: $750.00 (includes lunch, daily lunch and snacks)
Supply fee: $75.00 (lanyard, thumb drive 10 gigs, backpack, DVD’s and all print materials for closing)
Overnight: $499.00 (Double occupancy, must sign security and rules contract by parent/guardian and student) Arrival Sunday PM/depart Saturday am. Transportation to and from hotel location to NFI provided.
Deposit of $100 required with registration. Following registration a bill is sent with payments outlined as followed: We accept visa/mastercard.

Refunds: 100% – notification 45 days from start of workshop

If we are able to sell the seat a full refund is provided for health emergencies or acts of God.
A Backpack Journalist – weekend retreat – “Overview of Backpack” – 201
All modules presented at opening on Friday night at 7 PM: Writing, song writing, photography and filmmaking. Rotations of 1 hour each begin following. Saturday & Sunday, rotations continue, with labs open in the evening for one on one coaching. Average length of time spent in a module 3 hours each. Each student will complete retreat with one project, and also a portrait. This is 2 full days that will provide each student will an overview of A Backpack Journalist.
Goals and Objectives
Objective 1: Youth will learn basics on how to communicate clearly, succinctly, and precisely via written word or images on a topic of interest.
Objective 2: Youth will choose one of the modules to complete a project with.
Objective 3: Youth will receive an overview of each module.
Cost: $400/$50 supply fee (lanyard, DVD)

NEW! HIP HOP MUSIC CAMP! – 301
The hip-hop workshop is designed to encourage the youth to build confidence through musical creativity.
Personal expression through poetry turned into song is the basis of the hip-hop workshop.
Along with songwriting the youth will study music production, recording techniques and lyrical delivery for rapping and singing.
Song arrangement and mixing wrap it all up.
The youth will leave the camp with his or her original music production on cd and mp3 file.
5-days – 9 to 5 each day. $499.00 per week - MAJOR PERFORMANCE AT CLOSING – Franklin, Tennessee
