James “Scotty” Scott

  • Scotty Scott is a retired Army National Guard Colonel with nearly 24 years active duty experience and nearly 39 years total military experience. Upon retirement, he accepted a Civil Service position to continue serving the men, women, and families of the Department of Defense, specifically the National Guard and Reserve. From February 1997 to February 2008, Scotty served as the Director of Individual and Family Programs for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. In February 2008, he was appointed the Executive Director of the Department of Defense Yellow Ribbon Program Office. Scotty retired from the Washington, DC area to Rainbow Island, Pangburn, Arkansas in March 2010. He is now seeking ways to continue to serve military members and families through A Back Pack Journalist program.
