Backpack Journalist is a member of The Charleston Regional Arts Alliance.  Please consider donating to our programming! Your donation will have from the Arts Alliance a proportional amount (10-15%) matching the dollars given to Backpack Journalist via this Arts Giving Day portal.

Backpack Journalist’ has after school classes through out Charleston County, and two active YOUTUBE Channels, facebook.com/backpackjournalist and a website:  www.abackpackjournalist.com.    All of these social media locations, contain updates on our engaging Scholastic Journalism activities throughout the low country with our “backpackers”.
 
UPCOMING:  Several stories are being built by our “backpackers”, into documentaries, and planned for broadcast nationally, with support locally from our various partners. We are training young filmmakers to gather great stories!
 
“Faith, Love and Progress:  the life of Esau and Janie Jenkins”.  Johns Island, SC, SC History Film, with advisers Sarah Burns & David McMahon!   2018-2019
 
“Cultural Belongings” – features stories about  Charleston, South Carolina’s citywide process to bring diverse voices to the table for stronger relationships between citizens and police – Illumination Project. Inspired by Sebastian Junger, author of TRIBE, the backpackers have  researched multiple cultures and groups across the US to include in this film.    2018-2019.
